Atascocita TexasAtascocita is a place with a concentration of people that is defined by the United States Census Bureau for statistical purpose. The area is about 6 miles east of Humble and 18 miles northeast of downtown Hudson north and south of Farm to Market Road 1960. It is not governed by a local municipal corporation but administered as part of Harris County, Texas in the United States. According to the 2010 census, its population has 65,844 people, 11006 households, and 9432 families. Residents are people of different races including whites, African Americans, Native Americans, Asians, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Latino. In the East, it is bordered by Lake Hudson.

There are several parks, golf courses and country clubs in this area that makes it beautiful to visit. These are places such as; the Walden on Lake Hudson Golf, Atascocita country club, Lake Hudson with boating and fishing opportunities, and Tour 18 accommodating recreations for some of United States golf holes that are most celebrated. There are various primary and secondary schools in this area assisting residents with educational opportunities. Students attend school in the Humble independent school district. More than 13 elementary schools serve to study, four middle schools with some portions zoned to other three middle schools. Atascocita high school serves the majority of high school students while other three high schools serve portions out of Atascocita. Furthermore, Lone star college has its center in the Area as well as the University of Hudson offering a degree to residents.

History

Construction in Atascocita started in the 1970s. By 1990s the area was among fast-growing developments in the Greater Houston. Until 2009, it was recognized by the Gadberry Group which later named the area to be the most notable high growth area in the United States. However, the population has increased by more than 40% from 35757 people in 2000 to 65844 people in 2010 showing a remarkable increase with an approximately doubled population in the area in only ten years.

Landmarks

This area has some things that can help in locating the place. The best well known are Wunderlich farm, San Jacinto Monument and Museum, Republic of Texas Plaza, Julia Ideson Building, Battleship Texas State Historic Site, Esperson Buildings, Vince Bridge historical site, Gulf Building historical Marker, Gerald D Hines Waterwall Park and Heritage Park and Museum. All together, they serve as landmarks, historical buildings, and museums giving recognition to Atascocita.

Attractions

Lake Hudson

Lake Hudson has been a base to a wide range of recreational features in the area. It is 24km northeast of downtown Houston, Texas. Having a place with blue features by a water body naturally makes the environment beautiful. It has posed a chance for playing golf and tennis. Main activities that people do at the lake is boating and fishing which is very fun. It is also a very silent place to meditate. For people who are a good fan of fishing, the Sheldon Lake in the area also provides for that. It is a very calling recreational facility as well.

Lindsay/Lyons Park

There is a Lindsay/Lyons park with 136 acres that is operated by Harris County Precinct. Together with this there are barbecue grills, a single barbecue pavilion, more than 8 lighted baseball fields , two lighted American football fields, picnic tables, 18 soccer football fields which are unlighted, one all-inclusive playground, a beautiful toilet facility designed for children of all physical abilities, four subway fields that are lighted and toilet facilities.

Jesse H Jones Park and Nature Center

Also, there is a Jesse H Jones Park and Nature Center. It has incredible playing and fishing centers. It has been an education facility and a network of trails. It has paved, and dirt walking areas as well as children playgrounds. It is the best place for a walk, jogging, and barbecue. It also has tall trees, enough restrooms, parking, and a playground.

Other Attractions in Atascocita

Other attractions in this area are the Old MacDonald’s farm having a petting zoo, a mini train, swimming pools and pumpkin patch with live animals. There is a Fall Creek Sports Complex which is a very suitable place for a family to spend time on weekends. For those who like living life to the fullest Atascocita, Texas is definitely a place that is worth a visit.
